Q.4. Do you accept SPM forecast / trial exam result? |
|
|
Yes, we accept your SPM forecast / trial exam / form 5 results for admission. Nevertheless, you still need to submit your actual SPM/O-LEVEL/UEC result when you get it. |

Q.5. Do you offer scholarships and study loan? |
|
|
Yes, we offer both scholarships and study loans. A few Optical companies are also sponsoring their staff/students to take up the FBDO program at our Institute. You could also apply for KOJADI Study Loan to study at our Institute. |

Q.6. What are the criteria for applying the scholarships/study loans? |
|
|
Basically, if you get 5A and above in your SPM/UEC/O-Level, you will get some forms of scholarships. If you have more than 2A, then we might consider give out a study loan to you if you also fulfill other requirements. We could send you a copy of the criteria for application for more details. |

Q.7. Are your programmes recognized by the Malaysia Government/Industry/Professional Bodies? |
|
|
Yes, the FBDO Qualification is recognized by the Malaysian Optical Council for registration as a licensed Optician in Malaysia. Most Commonwealth countries also recognize the FBDO qualification. |

Q.8. What are the job prospects as an Optician? |
|
|
The job prospect as an Optician is excellent. As Malaysia is currently very short of Opticians, and so any of our graduates will be grabbed by the Optical companies and offerred with lucrative employment package, even before they graduate from the FBDO program. |

Q.9. How much can an Optician earn? |
|
|
A very interesting question indeed. Nowadays, our fresh FBDO graduates (average 22 years old) are each offered a basic monthly salary of about RM3000 plus other incentives. We guess this is the highest starting salary in the job market, if you compare to other fresh university graduates from Business, IT, Engineering, Law, MBA, or even medical degrees. Because Opticians offer professional eye-care services, and so they deserve higher pay. |

Q.10. Who could take up the FBDO program? |
|
|
Any students who have at least a SPM/UEC/O-Level qualification and also fulfill other entry requirements. In fact, we have quite a number of local and foreign universities' graduates take up the FBDO program at our Institute, partly because they are interested in this program, and partly because they finally realize that it is better to obtain some professional qualification instead of just getting a common university degree. |

Q.11. What is the course fee for the FBDO program? |
|
|
The tuition fee is RM3900 per semester. There are a total of 6 semesters of studies. The total cost of studies is about RM30,000 inclusive of tuition fees, internal and external exam fees, etc. |

Q.12. What type of job can I find once I complete the Diploma in Retail Management Programme? |
|
|
After completing the Diploma in Retail Management, you could choose to continue for a Degree in Retail Management in a number of overseas universities. If you choose to work after completing the Diploma, then you can work in many retailing companies, like international or local chain store companies, retail supermarkets, retail shops, or even start your own retail company. The job prospect is excellent as you will be among the very first batch of pioneers who possess special knowledge in the retail fields. |

Q.13. Retail companies are always among the "first-hit" industries during the economic recession period, so how could I be sured I could get a job after completing your retailing courses? |
|
|
This is a general misconception about the retail industries. In fact, there are always businesses open and close under any economic situation or environment. It is not very true that retailing industries will be the casualties during the economic recession period as many other businesses will also be affected either severely or slightly when the economic is facing downturn. We have to bear in mind that the retail industries cover very wide range of areas. And no matter under what types of economic situations, people will still have to buy foods, clothes, and other necessities. As such, the retail market will never be diminished. It is just how you run the retail businesses, and your knowledge and experience that make the differences. Have you noticed that a lot of international retail companies are now running big retail businesses in Malaysia? In short, it will be worth your effort to take up this retail management program. |

The semester fee is RM3000. There are a total of 6 semesters of studies. The total cost of studies is less than RM20,000. |

Q.15. Do you have any student hostel? |
|
|
Yes, we have student hostels - single, twin-sharing, and trio-sharing rooms. The monthly rental per person is between RM150-RM200. Please reserve the hostel room earlier as it is on the first come first serve basis. |
